Walter Dix Is Born
Walter Dix (born January 31, 1986 in Coral Springs, Florida) is an American sprinter who attended Florida State University and is a member of Phi Beta Sigma.
He is an eight-time NCAA champion, winning outdoor titles in the 100 meters (2005 and 2007), the 200 meters (2006, 2007, and 2008), and the 4 x 100 meter relay (2008) and indoor titles in the 200 m (2006 and 2007). He is a 15-time All-American.
Phi Beta Sigma (ΦΒΣ) is a predominantly African-American fraternity which was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The founders A. Langston Taylor, Leonard F. Morse, and Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service.
