FDA Approves Upjohn's Halcion

Halcion is used for short-term treatment of insomnia. It is a member of the benzodiazepine class of drugs, many of which are used as tranquilizers.

Halcion is a benzodiazepine. It works by depressing the central nervous system (brain), causing drowsiness to aid in falling asleep.

This medication is used for the short-term treatment of patients with trouble sleeping (insomnia). It is generally used for 7-10 days. It may help you fall asleep faster and decrease the number of times you awaken during the night. It may also help you sleep for a longer period of time. Triazolam belongs to a class of medications called sedative/hypnotics. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect.

Halcion belongs to a group of drugs known as benzodiazepines and is used in the treatment of insomnia. Halcion works by decreasing the amount of time required to fall asleep, increasing the duration of sleep and decreasing the amount of awakenings during the night.
