Jackie Robinson plays for Kansas City Monarchs in Negro Leagues

In early 1945, while still at Sam Huston College, Robinson received an offer to play for the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues.

Robinson's contract was for $400 a month.

In all, Jackie played 47 games at shortstop for the Monarchs, hitting .387 with 5 home runs, registering 13 stolen bases, and appearing in the 1945 Negro League All-Star Game (where he was hitless in five at-bats).
