Philadelphia Phillies defeat New York Mets, 6-3

Jerry Manuel didn't want a repeat of Bobby Parnell's ill-fated extra-inning matchup Wednesday with Chase Utley. So he summoned lefthander Ken Takahashi Thursday night.

The result: Parnell was tagged with his second loss in two nights anyway as the Mets headed into the Subway Series with a 6-3, 10-inning loss to the Phillies. The rubber-game defeat dropped the Mets four games behind Philadelphia in the NL East.
