MSW Takes on the Metropolitan Police Department

Two days after Frank Kameny's birthday, the Metropolitan Police staged a violent and bloody raid on the Gayety Buffet, a gay meeting place on 9th St NW. Outraged by the raid, Kameny and MSW collected affidavits from those present, lodged complaints with the police department, and began a 12 year campaign against police harassment. The campaign ended with the 1975 termination of funding for the Police Prostitution, Perversion & Obscenity squads.
