The ninth Academy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, March 4, 1937 at the Biltmore Bowl of the Biltmore Hotel. Though categories were added for supporting actors and actresses this year, the winners received an Award plaque instead of a statuette (full-sized Oscars were given to supporting performers starting in 1943). George Jessel hosted the event.
