In 1970, he began a relationship with Bianca De Macias, whom he married on 12 May 1971, in a Catholic ceremony in Saint-Tropez, France. In May 1978, she filed for divorce on the grounds of his adultery. Bianca later said "My marriage ended on my wedding day."
