Blagojevich defense attorney Sam Adam Jr. spent almost three hours this morning attacking the credibility of Governor Blagojevich's close friend and one time Chief of Staff, Lon Monk, every chance he could get.
Monk is cooperating as a government witness in Blagojevich's political corruption trial after making a plea deal with the US Government. Under that deal, Monk is hoping he'll be sentenced to no more than two years in prison for crimes he committed, related to this case. Sam Adam Jr. wasted no time pointing out holes and inconsistencies in Monk's testimony from the past three days, by comparing Monk's testimony to statements Monk gave to federal prosecutors back in 2009, when he signed a plea deal.
Sam Adam Jr: "You want your deal, don't ya?
Lon Monk: "Yes"
Sam Adam Jr: "You want your two years and only two years?
Lon Monk: "Yes"
