Florida Marlins defeat St. Louis Cardinals, 2-1

The Florida Marlins paid the Cardinals a lefthanded compliment Tuesday night. Forgive the locals if they withheld their thanks.

Mitchell Boggs' last start for the Cardinals was his best one. On Sept. 5, he worked seven innings of one-run ball in a 2-1 Cardinals win at Pittsburgh. His reward was a trip to the bullpen to make some new friends.

Boggs said he understood. The Cardinals were getting Kyle Lohse and Todd Wellemeyer off the disabled list and veteran John Smoltz had been dazzling in his first several starts.
