Arizona Diamondbacks defeat New York Mets, 6-2

PHOENIX - The last time the Mets had used a starting lineup without their core players - Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes and David Wright - was Sept. 19, 2006.

The Mets were without those players Tuesday night - an ill Wright finally was held out of the lineup for the first time in 64 games - and let's just say the atmosphere didn't match the festive scene at Shea Stadium the day after the Mets clinched their last NL East title.
