St. Louis Cardinals defeat Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-1

The very public courtship of Matt Holliday began Monday night at Busch Stadium. As opening lines go, the Cardinals' 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers proved very persuasive.

With a sellout crowd of 43,756 greeting the club's newest addition with a protracted standing ovation, Holliday answered in kind with a 400-foot laser to put the game on course and a once-clunky lineup became dangerous.
